I can’t remember the last time I’ve enjoyed a show as much as Inazuma Eleven. I know that Inazuma Eleven isn’t new and had actually wrapped up in April of 2011, but I’ve been slowly wading into it before diving in about a month or two ago. Inazuma Eleven revolves around the fledgeling soccer (or football for the rest of the world) club of Raimon Junior High and it’s captain/goaltender, Mamoru Endou. Over the course of the series, Raimon Junior High encounters a plethora of plot twists and story arcs in the journey towards both national and international championships and aliens. Alain Vigneault during a pre-game warm-up
Alain Vigneault has accepted a two year extension to his contract as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks.
There had been a lot of speculation and rumors over the fate of Vigneault after the Canucks’ first round exit in the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Despite that, Vigneault had helped the Canucks achieve their best season with 111 points during the 2011-2012. Since joining the team in 2006, the Canucks have claimed two Presidents’ Trophies, five Northwest Division Titles, five 100+ point seasons and one trip to the Stanley Cup Final under Vigneault’s leadership.
Prior to arriving in Vancouver, Vigneault coached the Canucks AHL farm team, the Manitoba Moose, and before that serving as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.

Supermoon
Frederick Linsmeyer • May 6, 2012 • In PicturesLast night, a supermoon lit up the evening skies providing an up close look at our lunar neighbour. Not as large as I expected, but it was still pretty brilliant.
I ventured out last night with my camera and 55-300mm lens with the hope that the moon would be close enough for some unexpected detail. Unfortunately, by the time it rose over the west coast, it had started moving away. Nevertheless, I was able to get some shots, albeit without the extreme detail I was hoping for (that, or I need a better telephoto lens).

New coins causing trouble for TransLink

New 2012 Loonie
If you’ve never given any thought to the change in your pocket, you may want to check before taking transit. The new loonie and toonie coins aren’t being accepted in TransLink‘s ticket vending machines.
According to a News1130 story, TransLink stated that the Royal Canadian Mint had not provided samples of the new coins so that their machines could be calibrated. These coins look the same size as the existing change, but are lighter in weight due to different metals being used. If the ticket vending machine cannot properly determine the weight of the coin to ascertain its value, the offending coin is dropped back into ticket tray for the purchaser reclaim.
However, the Royal Canadian Mint has struck back at the transit authority stating that many companies, organizations and manufacturers were involved as early as 2009 to ensure their equipment would be ready for the change.
Until TransLink can correct the issue, passengers are advised to use their debit or credit cards or other coins.
How can you tell if you have one of the new loonies or toonies? An obvious giveaway is the date: all of the new coins stamped are with 2012 underneath the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The other way to tell is the little circle with a maple leaf minted above the loon on the loonie, while the toonie has two of the encircled maple leaves separating Canada 2 Dollars under the polar bears.
