With the weather getting cooler, a German tradition is just around the corner. The Vancouver Christmas Market will light up the plaza in front of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from November 24th to December 24th, 2012.

The Christmas market is a little slice of Europe in the downtown core. Sample delicious German fare; savoury bratwurst piled high with sauerkraut, thick Schupfnudeln, and of course Schnitzel. Mugs of Feuerzangenbowle and Glühwein will keep you warm during the transition from fall to winter.

In between snacking, take some time to browse through dozens of kiosks offering baked treats, tableware (including beer steins), endless ornaments and decorations. Kids can enjoy a ride on a carousel or explore the Kids’ Market where they can try their hand at decorating ginger bread or chocolate lollipops.

No Christmas market is complete without the sounds of the season. The gazebo in the centre of the market will feature a variety of musical performances from local bands, choirs, schools and other groups.

Admission to the Vancouver Christmas Market is $5.00 Monday through Friday, 4:00 pm PST – 9:00 pm PST, and 11:00 am PST – 9:00 pm PST weekends, $2.00 Monday through Friday, from 11:00 am PST until 4:00 pm PST. Plus, paid admission includes the ability to re-enter the market during its operation.
