As part of this today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata provided a more in-depth look to the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for Nintendo 3DS.

Iwata made note of the game’s logo which features two Triforces: one golden and one shadowy; an allusion to the twin worlds Link must traverse. Though not a direct sequel to storied The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds returns to the same Hyrule and is set many years after Ganon’s defeat. Considering that this adventure takes place far in the future, it is not the same Link who returns to stave off evil, but a new Link in the series’ complicated storyline.

While the Overworld may look similar to its predecessor, Iwata added that the other world is much different and with completely new dungeons and places to explore. Crossing into each world has changed — Link must transform into a drawing near cracks in the walls. These fissures can be identified from the multi-coloured rocks surrounding either a golden or shadowy glow to indicate which world they lead to.

Link’s appearance has also been modified to that of A Link to the Past, simple yet rugged. The Hylian Shield and Master Sword appear as they do in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is scheduled for release sometime in November 2013.
