Baertschi, Conacher join Vancouver

With the 2015 trade deadline come and gone, the Vancouver Canucks have added two new forwards to their roster. Sven Baertschi, joins from the Calgary Flames in return for a second round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Cory Conacher comes over from the New York Islanders in a swap with Dustin Jeffrey. General Manager Jim Benning held a briefing Monday to welcome the two to Vancouver.

Baertschi, who hails from Bern, Switzerland, made 15 appearances this season with the Flames racking up four assists for four points, along with six penalty minutes. Picked 13th in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames, Baertschi has played in 66 NHL games with the team.

Conacher, from Burlington, Ontario, also played in 15 games this season with the Islanders, scoring one goal with two assists for three points and 14 penalty minutes. Conacher played previously for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres before signing as a free agent with the New York Islanders on July 1st, 2014.
