Canucks get Philip Larsen from Oilers for draft pick

The Vancouver Canucks have received defenceman Philip Larsen in a transaction with the Edmonton Oilers for a fifth round pick in 2017 NHL Draft according to a release by the Canucks.

Larsen, who hails from Esbjerg, Denmark, played 54 games for Jokerit Helsinki during the 2015-16 season in the KHL, collecting 38 points from 12 goals and 26 assists with 39 penalty minutes. Before joining Vancouver, Larsen participated in 125 games between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers, amassing 31 points with 8 goals and 23 assists with 42 minutes in the sin bin.

The 26 year-old defenceman was selected 149th in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars.
