A Japanese high school student, Light Yagami, stumbles across a mysterious book called the Death Note, which has the power to end another person’s life. Upon writing the names of known criminals in the Death Note, Light attracts the attention of L, an enigmatic detective, who is determined to track down and bring the mastermind behind executions. Hikaru winds up in the middle of some misunderstandings just as the Hokuto Cup is about to start and leaves him unable to focus on the game. Unable to concetrate in the first match between Japan and China, Hikaru looks to be on the way out. If only he can look past all the distractions, Hikaru might be able to recover.

Viz Media released its new Viz Manga app for the Apple iPad today. The application allows users to download popular manga series including Naruto, Death Note, Bleach, Bakuman, and Dragon Ball and view them at full screen digitally.

The app itself is free, but each volume is priced at $4.99 USD and is only available to fans within the United States.

There is no word if the Viz Manga app will be available for use on the iPhone or iPod Touch.
