YTV drops Naruto and Bleach/Adult Swim takes on FMA: Brotherhood

YTV, the Canadian youth-aimed channel, has removed Naruto and Bleach from its schedule, after running repeats for the past year. The two series used to air at midnight and 1:00 am respectively.

The Caroon Network’s Adult Swim will be airing the first 26 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in the United States. The series will start on February 14^th, 2010, however, check local listings for show times. A list of the English voice cast can be found here.

Ed starts an alchemic transmutation

Although it wasn’t a full scale convention, J-Fest was a preview of what would be at Anime Evolution; featuring an artists room, panels on costume design, a video room and registration for the convention itself. A small gathering of cosplayers showed up to debut their costumes and support their series at the one day event. Take a peek at some of the fans who came out on Saturday.

J-Fest on Saturday

Anime Evolution is sponsoring a one-day event called J-Fest on Saturday, January 23^rd, 2010, at Douglas College in New Westminster. Registration for Anime Evolution 2010 will be available, along with cosplay tutorials, gaming, videos, panels, artists and more! J-Fest only costs $10 to enter and runs from 10:30 am PST until 7:30 pm PST. Douglas College is one block north of the New Westminster SkyTrain station.

Soul Eater DVD/Manga release

Soul Eater DVD part 1 Soul Eater fans can pick up part one of the series on DVD on February 9^th, 2010. The first set will feature 13 episodes over two discs with both Japanese and English vocals.

The second DVD set is scheduled for release on March 30^th, 2010. Fans of the manga will be able to grab volume two on February 23^rd, 2010.

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 1

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 01 The first Naruto Shippuden box set is expected on store shelves January 26^th, 2010. A special edition box set will also be available, similar to how the first series Naruto collections were done, usually with a limited edition figure. No word yet on what the special edition will include.

The box set will contain three DVDs and come with both Japanese and English dubs. English subtitles are available for the Japanese language track.

Naruto anime short online

A new Naruto anime short has been posted on the Weekly Shonen Jump web site. The original story features Uchiha Sasuke when he was still part of Squad 7 under Kakashi’s leadership. Along with Naruto, there’s a short from another series called Toriko. Both videos were previewed in Japan at Jump Super Anime Tour locations.

The videos are only viewable using special software on the Weekly Shonen Jump web site and is currently available for Windows-based computers.

The short was released in part with Naruto’s tenth anniversary.

Gurren Lagann on YouTube

Soul Eater DVDs in February

The first Soul Eater DVDs will be hitting store shelves February next year. It’s expected that this will contain the first thirteen episodes in a slim pack format. Until then, you can watch Soul Eater on FUNimation’s web site.
