Hikaru winds up in the middle of some misunderstandings just as the Hokuto Cup is about to start and leaves him unable to focus on the game. Unable to concetrate in the first match between Japan and China, Hikaru looks to be on the way out. If only he can look past all the distractions, Hikaru might be able to recover.

Viz Media released its new Viz Manga app for the Apple iPad today. The application allows users to download popular manga series including Naruto, Death Note, Bleach, Bakuman, and Dragon Ball and view them at full screen digitally.

The app itself is free, but each volume is priced at $4.99 USD and is only available to fans within the United States.

There is no word if the Viz Manga app will be available for use on the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Realms Con 2010

Located on the sunny coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Realms Con provided anime aficionados in Corpus Christi a chance to celebrate their love for for the medium, along with gaming and other aspects of Japanese culture. The convention operated over three days, from October 1st to 3rd, at the American Bank Center. While not a large event, like at Anime Central or even San Japan, Realms Con was something more of a relaxed and laid back convention with opportunities to browse and chill with other con goers.

The Naruto’s Forest certificate

I arrived home from work today and found an envelope marked all the way from Kazo, Saitama prefecture in Japan sitting on the table. After noticing the Present Tree logo at the bottom and the Konoha emblem on the back, I figured the contents had to be for the Naruto’s Forest campaign that ran this past June.

I opened the envelope and found five sheets of paper enclosed within; one of which was my certificate of the tree I’m sponsoring. Also included was a beautiful print of Naruto and Jiraiya resting under a tree, a card with an amazing forested landscape where the saplings are planted, another card detailing some of the various local plants and a brief paper covering how the tree will be cared for.

So, if you’re ever in Japan, stop by the forests in the Yamanashi prefecture and look for tree 11-04772. I hope to visit one of these days…
