Ever wanted to visit Mexico but never have the time and money? Now’s your chance with over week of festivities honouring the Latin American country in early September with MexicoFest. This year’s theme focuses on Baja California Sur, the southern portion of large peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean.

The real party, however, will be on Saturday, September 7th with the Fiesta Mexico Independencia 2013 down at the Vancouver Convention Centre. From 12:00 pm PDT until 9:00 pm PDT, there will be live music, cultural exhibitions, food and drinks, merchants booths and more. The evening will close off with a performance by Mexican singer/songwriter Aleks Syntek.

In the days leading up to Fiesta Mexico Independencia 2013 (and after as well), participating restaurants will be serving up fare from Baja California Sur in addition to their regular menu items. There’s also an evening for Mexican cinema hosted by the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and a Mexican Food Trade Show, both on Thursday, September 5th.

For further information, schedules and resources, visit the MexicoFest web site.
