The Guardian has named its 50 favourite beaches from around the globe and two from Canada made the list: Tofino’s Chesterman Beach and Vancouver’s English Bay Beach.

The UK newspaper ranked Chesterman Beach at #33 under the “best wild and remote” class due to its unspoiled natural beauty and as a spot to catch a few waves or watch the orcas in the water.

English Bay Beach came in at #47 for “best city beaches” for its family friendliness and proximity to Stanley Park and the West End’s dining options. However, the Guardian makes note that the Canada Day fireworks are held here; those are found in Coal Harbour by Canada Place — most likely they’re referring to the Celebration of Light fireworks festival in July and August.
