This afternoon’s live stream video confirmed the news that the anime based on Tite Kubo’s manga Bleach is returning to cover the final story arc: the Thousand-Year Blood War.

Hosted by Hiroyuki Nakano, the editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen Jump, and with the Japanese vocal cast of Masakazu Morita (Ichigo Kurosaki), Fumiko Orikasa (Rukia Kuchiki), and Ryotaro Okiayu (Byakuya Kuchiki), the roughly 51-minute video shared some information on the new show.

Also confirmed, Kubo’s one-shot story Burn the Witch will begin serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump later this year.

Burn the Witch is in the same universe as Bleach, with the protagonists members of the western Soul Society (versus the eastern Soul Society with Ichigo and Rukia). Noel Niihashi and Nini Spangle work for Reverse London, and are able to see dragons which normally are invisible to the rest of the world. The two work together maintaining peace between the humans and creatures, while protecting them from those who turn bad.

In 2021, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bleach, Japan will host an exhibition to the series. A world tour was considered, but is being limited to Japan at this time.
