Funimation announced this morning that in cooperation with Aniplex, the complete 94-episode anime Rurouni Kenshin becomes available for streaming on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 in both Japanese with subtitles and dubbed in English for fans in the United States, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Following a savage civil war, Japan is struggling to rebuild. Laws of the Meiji era have banned swords and death is forbidden, though it doesn’t stop a select few from seeking revenge. Himura Kenshin, who served as an assassin for the government, has now settled upon a different life, roaming the country and protecting the public from those intent on destabilizing this hard-fought peace.

The anime is based off the manga of the same name by Nobuhiro Watsuki and aired first in January 1996, before concluding in September 1998. International fans may best remember the show as Samurai X.

A live-action film of Rurouni Kenshin was released in Japanese theatres August 2012, followed by two others in 2014.
