With movie theatres closed because of stay home orders put in place by government officials, Funimation and Bigscreen are working together to bring a night out at the movies home.

Watch a selection of anime movies licensed by Funimation with fellow anime fans using a virtual reality (VR) headset designed to emulate a modern cinema, complete with customizable avatars to fill the digital seats. It’s about as close to Sword Art Online as it gets!

Supported headsets include Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift S, Oculus Go, Valve Index, Steam VR, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality. Support for PlayStation VR is expected later in the year.

Funimation also shared some of the titles and dates of when to catch these films virtually. Films are available in both Japanese with English subtitles, or dubbed in English.
