Simulcasts for Digimon Adventure: and One Piece on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions in Japan

Toei Animation announced today that the simulcasts for both Digimon Adventure: and One Piece are suspended until further notice as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.

The news was shared to the animation company’s social media accounts earlier, including Instagram.

To All Our Fans,
Due to the state of emergency in Japan caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have carefully considered the safety measures for the spread and have decided to suspend the simulcast and Japanese broadcasting of both “One Piece” & our new series, “Digimon Adventure:” for the time being. Updates on the return of both series will be provided as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Please stay safe and healthy.

No date on when the shows would continue was provided.

Digimon Adventure: just recently began airing on April 5th, 2020 and is a remake of the first series which originally broadcast in 1999. One Piece is the long running series based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, and has been on the air since 1999.

Japan has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases recently, according to news reports from NHK.
