Funimation and Sunrise, the Japanese animation company, worked together with a group of musicians and artists to remake “The Real Folk Blues”, the closing theme to Cowboy Bebop.

Produced by Mason Lieberman, with music by The Seatbelts, vocals from Shihori, Uyanga Bold, Raj Ramayya, 40 musicians, plus guest appearances by Beau Billingslea, the English voice actor for Jet Black, and Steve Blum, the English voice actor of Spike Spiegel.

A vinyl copy of “The Real Folk Blues” is available for purchase, with all money generated from the sale going towards the CDC Foundation and Doctors without Borders for their work against COVID-19. The record itself retails at $25.00 USD.

The song becomes available on Spotify Friday, May 8th, 2020, as well as Bandcamp. A video of the song being performed was also uploaded to Funimation’s YouTube channel.

Cowboy Bebop originally aired in Japan in 1998, with all 26 episodes broadcast in 1999. Funimation currently streams the anime through their media platform.
