Square Enix unveiled a trailer video, in Japanese, of an upcoming rhythm game for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One called Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.

In the video, scenes from the game have Sora, Donald and Goofy fight the heartless with actions tied to on screen event prompts. Levels shown were the Destiny Islands, Agrabah, Mount Olympus, Twilight Town, and the Keyblade Graveyard. Sora can also partner up with Disney heroes in specific levels, like Aladdin in Agrabah or Hercules in Mount Olympus as happens in the main Kingdom Hearts games.

Rhythm games are generally set to music where the player presses a button or combination in relation to an onscreen prompt. The Kingdom Hearts series has a vast library of music, which could provide a lot of content for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. This isn’t Square Enix’s first attempt at a rhythm game, as they released a similar title based on the Final Fantasy franchise called Final Fantasy Theatrhythm.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is being released worldwide in 2020 according to the video, but a specific date was not provided.
