Sony reveals prices and dates for PS5 launch

This afternoon, Sony revealed their next generation console, the PlayStation 5, launches Thursday, November 12th, 2020 in Canada with the digital-only console retailing at $499.99 CAD, and the Blu-ray disc drive system at $629.99 CAD.

The United States, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea share the same November 12th launch date; the rest of the world will need to wait a week to get their consoles on Thursday, November 19th, 2020.

The announcement occurred at the end of their 47-minute long PlayStation 5 Showcase, which included clips of upcoming titles including:

  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Resident Evil: Village,
  • Deathloop
  • Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
  • Oddsworld: Soulstorm
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach,
  • Demon’s Souls

Additionally, retailers in Canada are accepting pre-orders early this evening, according to a tweet from the PlayStation Canada Twitter account.
