There’s a new Sword Art Online movie coming to theatres across Japan next year according to a tweet from anime’s official Twitter account.

A brief trailer for Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night focusing on Asuna was included in the tweet, though the link to a YouTube video of the trailer is restricted to viewers only in Japan.

According to Japanese media site Natalie, Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night makes a return to the first series which took place in Aincrad and expands on the stories not covered in the original anime.

The official web site lists Ayako Kawano as the film’s director, with Kento Toya as character designer, Yasuyuki Kai as action director and music composition by Yuki Kajiura. A-1 Pictures will handle the production. Both Kai and Kajiura worked on the original Sword Art Online anime.

Sword Art Online Progressive revisits Asuna’s and Kirito’s journeys through the digital world of Aincrad, the first series based on the light novel by author Reki Kawahara and original artwork from abec.
