With so many events cancelled and venues closed this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there is some light during the darkest months of 2020. VanDusen Botanical Gardens will open for their annual Festival of Lights program albeit modified to meet provincial health guidelines.
Those changes include no on-site ticket sales, timed entry, a one way path through the gardens, and scaled back activities. That means no photos with Santa Claus, no dancing fountain, no Make-A-Wish candle grotto and no live entertainment options. Visitors are asked to respect physical distancing of two meters between other groups and limit attendance to six people or less.
The Festival of Lights opens on November 27th, 2020 until January 3rd, 2021 and is closed on December 25th, 2020, Christmas Day. Tickets are required for entry, only available online and in restricted quantities. Dress appropriately as it may be cold or wet; masks are optional but suggested. Parking in the area around VanDusen Botanical Gardens is limited, but transit is always an option (either with the 17 bus or a short walk north from the 41 bus).
