In July 2020, anime streaming platform Crunchyroll reached three million paid subscribers. Six months on, they’ve reached four million.

Crunchyroll advertises itself as the world’s largest anime brand with a library of over a thousand titles with 30,000 episodes available to 200 countries and territories. Their platform boasts at least 100 million registered users, four million of which pay for a subscription to watch anime as it airs simultaneously in Japan and with no advertisements. Some 50 million fans follow Crunchyroll through social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Crunchyroll was acquired by Sony under their Funimation Global Group in December 2020.
