Square Enix drops new The World Ends with You trailer

Earlier this week, Square Enix uploaded a new trailer to YouTube for the anime adaptation of the role-playing game The World Ends with You which begins airing on April 9th, 2021. The series is being carried by MBS in Japan.

Also revealed in the trailer is the series’ opening theme “Teenage City Riot” by ALI featuring R-指定.

Set in the bustling city of Shibuya, Neku is participant of a seven day event called the Grim Reaper Game. Those who play determine their fates before time expires.

Animation is being done by Domerica and Shin-Ei Animation with Kazuya Ichikawa serving as director. Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi will handle character design, with the music composed by Takeharu Ishimoto.

The vocal cast includes the actors who voiced their characters in the original game.

It’s not known if any streaming service will carry The World Ends with You The Animation, though we’ll likely find out closer to the air date.

The World Ends with You was originally developed for the Nintendo DS, but has since been remastered for mobile devices and Nintendo Switch as The World Ends with You: Final Remix.
