This evening, Nintendo unveiled a new amiibo figure of Zelda and a Loftwing that will join the Nintendo Switch release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on July 16th, 2021.

The amiibo, which is sold separately from the game, adds an interactive element to this remake of the 2011 Wii title. When used, the player can return from the ground to Skyloft without having to use a save point, as well as returning to the surface, making trips to purchase more in-game items easier than before.

In the game, Zelda, not yet known as the Princess of Hyrule, is Link’s longtime friend, where they reside in the floating world of Skyloft. Loftwings are massive birds that provide transportation for Zelda, Link and the other inhabitants; a dependable and faithful companion.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is a remastered version of the original Wii title The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and comes part of the The Legend of Zelda‘s 30th anniversary celebration.
