During an approximately 40-minute Square Enix Presents live stream as part of E3 2021, the Japanese games developer shared some new titles from their global teams coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and mobile devices.

The majority of the presentation was taken up with footage of two titles Square Enix is working on: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel’s Avengers, building on the two popular film and comics franchise. In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, take control of Star Lord and the ragtag group Guardians of the Galaxy as they attempt to storm the fortress of Lady Hellbender. The 2020 release of Marvel’s Avengers is getting some additional content, including the expansion pack: Marvel’s Avengers Expansion: Black Panther on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.

Square Enix’s largest property, Final Fantasy, saw some representation with a number of upcoming releases. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a collection of the original six games (Final Fantasy, II, III, IV, V and VI) coming to Steam, Android and iOS devices. Also revealed was a new game, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, which takes the series in a new direction as the main characters attempt to defeat Chaos in a darker themed-title. Of course, the Final Fantasy VII hype train continues to steam along, with the Android and iOS release of Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier coming later this year.

The first two Life Is Strange games are getting an overhaul with the release of Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection coming later this year. Preorders are open for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia consoles. American musician mxmtoon, who provides the singing voice for Alex Chen, introduced the latest entry: Life Is Strange: True Colors. Here, Alex must interact with the residents of a small town to learn more about the death of her brother and use their auras to guide her to the truth.

A remastered version of the 1999 PlayStation title Legend of Mana is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on June 24th, 2021. The Mana series is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Developer PlatinumGames is partnering with Square Enix to close to releasing Babylon’s Fall, a multiplayer game where up to four players fight their way through the mythical tower of Babylon. According to the Square Enix Producer Junichi Ehara, the hack-and-slash game utilizes the same fluidity as NeiR:Automata. Babylon’s Fall is coming to the PlayStation 4/5 and PC.

Continuing with the NeiR series, was a brief glimpse at NieR:Reincarnation, though not much else was shared of this mobile adventure aside from pre-registration opening up for Android and iOS users.

The Hitman series continues with a mobile app titled Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, for Android and iOS mobile devices. With Agent 47 missing, a crack team of snipers must fill the void to take out the world’s most evil masterminds.

Fans looking forward to future titles in the Kingdom Hearts franchise or further imagery from the under-development Final Fantasy XVI were left disappointed.

E3 continues with more presentations into early next week, before concluding on Tuesday, June 15th, 2021.
