The Sega-published game Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles is headed westward to the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC’s through Steam on October 15th, 2021.

Earlier in May, Sega unveiled a website for the game where it was only being released in Asia and would include vocals in both Japanese and English. That has since changed, especially with a new English language trailer (shown above) and posts from the North American Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- social media accounts.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles uses a cel-shaded art style to recreate the feeling of watching the Demon Slayer anime as players explore the story-driven adventure mode or go head-to-head in the classic battle mode. A limited roster of playable characters include most of the main series cast with Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira and Giyu Tomioka. Additional characters must be unlocked through in-game purchases.

Three versions of the game are available: a deluxe digital edition, a plain ol’ digital edition and a physical copy. Depending on the version selected, players can obtain an incentive if they pre-order. The very robust deluxe digital copy comes with the game itself, a custom theme (for PS4 consoles only), four character unlock keys, 12 character avatars, three butterfly mansion costumes and 8,000 Kimetsu Points for use as in-game currency. Advance purchases of the physical version only offers a meagre single character unlock key and two character avatars.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles is developed by CyberConnect2 Co. Ltd, with involvement from Aniplex and the animation studio ufotable. The ESRB has rated the game T for Teens for multiple depictions of blood, violent demon slaying action and and some mild cursing.

The wildly popular manga Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- by Koyoharu Gotouge has since been adapted into an anime, as well as a feature-length film.
