Crunchyroll unveils new titles at Anime NYC

Anime NYC is in full swing in midtown Manhattan, and anime streaming giant Crunchyroll, which is supporting the convention, has announced a number of new series coming to their platform in 2022.

Aoashi

Disheartened by the loss of their last middle school soccer tournament, Ashito Aoi finds himself on the beach, but a chance encounter with a member of the audience who also happens to be a leading coach. Proposed with the coach’s offer to build a team with the best of the best, Ashito embarks on a lengthy journey to the top. Aoashi begins streaming on Crunchyroll in April 2022.

A Couple of Cuckoos

Unbeknownst to high school Umino Nagi, he was accidentally swapped with another family’s child after birth. On his way to meet his biological parents, Nagi is abruptly courted by Amano Erika, a student from a prestigious high school, to be her boyfriend in an attempt to evade engagement to her fiancé, but neither wants to be with each other. No date for when A Couple of Cuckoos will begin streaming.

Dance Dance Danseur

Mesmerized by ballet from a young age, Murao Junpei is forced to give up his dream due to the death of his father. Godai Miyako, who recently transferred to Junpei’s school, learns of his love of ballet and persuades him to dance with her. Together with Miyako’s cousin, Mori Ruou, Junpei begins to live his dream. No date for when Dance Dance Danseur will begin streaming.

The Dawn of the Witch

Seville is a student at a school of magic, but with no memory of how he got there, and no interest in learning spells. The school’s headmaster, however, has a different plan for Seville, sending him to spread the use of magic into a region where witches are hunted… The Dawn of the Witch begins streaming on Crunchyroll in April 2022.

Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie

Shikimori is the beautiful and caring girlfriend of her classmate, the average and unlucky high school student Izumi, that is, unless Izumi needs help. Then Shikimori transforms into the ultimate “heartthrob girlfriend” to save him. Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie begins streaming on Crunchyroll in April 2022.

In/Spectre Season 2

The God of Wisdom, Iwanaga Kotoko, uses her skills to satiate the supernatural needs of those who call upon her. Kotoko is enamored with Sakuragawa Kuro, who happens to put her supernatural callers on edge. Season two of In/Spectre streams in 2022.

SPY x FAMILY

The world is at war with information the weapon, but two countries — Ostania and Westalis — have been fighting for far longer. Westalis sends their top spy “Twilight” into Ostania to create a fake family and intertwine with Ostania’s elite. Problems arise when the spy’s new family members all conceal their own abilities and talents, making the mission much more delicate. SPY x FAMILY will begin streaming in 2022.

Tomodachi Game

A group of friends in high school — Katagiri Yuichi, Sawagiri Shiho, Mikasa Tenji, Shibe Makoto, and Kokorogi Yutori — enjoy their time together. The good times end when they find themselves pulled into a debt repayment game that puts their friendship to the test, lest they fail. Tomodachi Game begins streaming on Crunchyroll in April 2022.

Also shown at Anime NYC, was a preview of the anticipated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, created in partnership with Crunchyroll and Adult Swim; new episodes air every Saturday on both Crunchyroll and Adult Swim’s television channel.

Anime NYC is being held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, November 19th-21st, 2021
